Women's Spring Retreat 2011 - 20th Anniversary

Look Up! Timeless truths for trying times

"I lift my eyes up to the hills - where does my help come from?" Psalms 121:1 (NIV)

May 27th to 29th was a special weekend as 300 women celebrated the 20th Anniversary of the Women's Spring Retreat. Clevelands House Resort hosted the group who enjoyed inspiring sessions with Kathy Troccoli and Ellie Lofaro, fellowship by the peaceful waterfront and around delicious dining.

Review of Kathy Troccoli’s sessions at WSR 2011 by Heather Whitman

With our attention directed upwards we will find all the answers we seek. That is the message Kathy Troccoli, the one-woman-at-the-last-minute, gave us at the 2011 Women’s Spring Retreat at Clevelands House.

Look Up is the title of Kathy and her co-facilitator Ellie Lofaro‘s travelling women’s retreat. A powerful message reminding us to trust our God and wait with patience on his goodness as scripture directs us; “We wait in hope for the Lord; he is our help and our shield.” Psalm 33:20. No matter where our Lord takes us on this journey, grow where you are planted.

Troccoli’s own personal stories of how she battled depression, an eating disorder and singleness all with the love of Jesus Christ leading her way. This multi-award winning singer-songwriter demonstrated the power of our great God. She touched our hearts and sent us back into our lives with renewed hope and song.

Rachelle and Caroline Share Their Retreat History

At our first All Nations Church Women's Retreat, Rachelle Royer gave her heart to Jesus. At our 19th Retreat, Rachelle's daughter, Caroline, made the same decision. Here is their story, in their words:

I was born in a Catholic home; my best friend was Presbyterian. One day she asked me to go to a women's retreat. I was thinking, "Wow, a weekend away from hubby and kids....sure why not." I gave my heart to the Lord that weekend and have never looked back. I got home and was baptized in April, 1993 at All Nations Church and have felt God's presence in my life ever since. My journey has been one of faith and hope. God has filled me with His peace and joy as I seek Him more each day. Life is not perfect because we become Christians; if anything, it becomes more challenging, but knowing God is with me and I am not alone gives me the strength to handle whatever the world may give. One of my biggest blessings was having my youngest daughter, Caroline, come with me to the 2010 Women's Spring Retreat, where God blessed her by opening her heart and letting God take control of her life. She is growing in faith every day and I am so very proud of her and thankful to my God. Never give up! God bless. Rachelle

This was my first retreat, and if I had to describe it using one word, it would have to be "heavenly". Being surrounded by women who all share a faith and divine spirituality was empowering. I made a choice to give my life to God during the retreat and have been on a path to build and strengthen my faith since that moment. What an incredible experience to share with my mom. My mother and I have always been close, and her faith has given me much support and guidance over the years. I now have begun my journey to share my faith with my children, hoping that they too can find comfort in the Lord during life's challenging moments, as well as their good ones. The 19th Annual Women's Spring Retreat was a true blessing for me, and I am grateful to my mother for asking me to join her in this amazing experience. I can't wait to do it again next year! I'm already registered! Caroline

History of the Women's Spring Retreat

The Women's Spring Retreat was founded in 1992 and has been growing ever since. The first one was held, with 60 women present, in Sudbury at the Cardinal Inn. We have moved to the Senator Motor Inn, Killarney Mountain Resort, Yesterday's Resort, Resort Tapatoo near Parry Sound, and have expanded again to Clevelands House with 300 women. We strive to keep it modern and applicable to your life. It is the perfect opportunity to rejuvenate your soul, network with women from all different backgrounds, and to reach out to a friend or family member by bringing her along for this blessing-filled weekend.
